On the 19th November 2011, HMS Iron Duke was open to SOTV (Ships Open to Visitors). Members of the public were welcome to come on board the Frigate between 1000 and 1600 to tour the ship.
The Portsmouth based Type 23 Frigate HMS Iron Duke, visited her affiliated island of Jersey from the 17th-20th November 2011. The visit was an excellent opportunity to show the people of Jersey what a fantastic ship Iron Duke is and what a great organisation the Royal Navy is to work for.
Whilst alongside the ships company had a very busy 4 days. The events included visits from local schools and cadet forces, Capability Demonstration and Official Receptions, Football & Rugby matches, SOTV (Ships Open to Visitors).
HMS Iron Duke is currently away from her homeport of Portsmouth to carry out a SPEC 'N' (Specialist Navigator) Course. This will see HMS Iron Duke navigate around the British Isles with Port visits including Hull and Jersey, before returning to Portsmouth at the end of the month.
